This Psalm was written in view of the remnant’s return to rebuild the Temple in Jerusalem. This is a great Psalm of hope amid transition. God was moving the nation back from one part of His plan to the next and their attitude in this portion of Scripture is something worthy of our attention. Often transition brings about instability in our outlook. Yet, in this song of degrees, we note the remnant’s spirit, and what comes out is their hope as they go from one season (of chastening) to the next season (of rejoicing).
