Here, Jesus is speaking to His disciples to prepare for His departing. Throughout Jesus’ time with them, He had foreshadowed the fact that He would be betrayed and be put to death. Our text today, reveals that they still didn’t get it. They didn’t get why Jesus had to go and why they will go through what they would. They didn’t understand why Jesus Himself wasn’t troubled by what He was saying and it unnerved them to know that He was stating these things with such clarity. Jesus comforts them to ensure that they would be prepared for what comes next.
