Hi Church!
"It is always possible to be thankful for what is given rather than resentful over what is withheld. One attitude or the other becomes a way of life." --Elisabeth Elliot.
As our lives have been affected through this time of COVID-19 we must not lose sight of the many blessing that has still come our way. Often, in a time of reshuffling we can become complaining and unthankful. Yet, the choice is still on the table. We must choose a life of thanksgiving.
The quote is from Elizabeth Elliot a missionary of yesteryear. Her husband Jim was killed by the very people they were called to minister to. It is in this context that she penned the words quoted. What an amazing thing for her to say in a time of such loss. Yet, she understood that the attitude of gratitude was a choice, not a default to her circumstances. This perspective is underpinned by the word of God.
1Th 5:18  In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
We have faced restrictions to freedoms we all hold as dear. We don’t know how much longer we have to endure these for the sake of those who are vulnerable. In all of this, we must continue to be thankful in Christ. It is His will! Be thankful for the big things and little things. Be thankful despite the situation and there you will find that whatever comes, we have hope that endures even in adjustment.
